Annawan claims Class 1A title

All-stater Celina VanHyfte scored 19 points and grabbed 13 rebounds as Annawan won the Class 1A state girls basketball championship Saturday with a 59-23 rout of Carrollton at Redbird Arena in Normal.

Cierra Davis added 17 points and 12 rebounds for Annawan (30-4), which led 30-12 at halftime on its way to winning the school's first state championship in any sport.

Megan Foes added 11 points to the win.

Rachel Williams led Carrollton (25-7) with 9 points and 9 rebounds.

Lanark Eastland 55, Moweaqua Central A & M 50: Lanark Eastland broke open a game tied 33-33 after three quarters to take third place in Class 1A. Lexis Macomber led Lanark (29-6) with 15 points and 7 rebounds. Ryan Dooley had 15 points and Taylor Jordan added 11 for Central A & M (27-7).
