St. Thomas More wins 2A championship

Alexa Wallen scored 18 points while Tori McCoy added 17 points and 10 rebounds to lead Champaign St. Thomas More to a 70-34 win over Prophetstown Saturday night in the Class 2A girls basketball state championship game at Redbird Arena in Normal.

St. Thomas More (33-2) avenged a loss to Nashville in last year's state title game. Elizabeth Bristow added 13 points and Randa Harshbarger had 12 for the winners, who built a 46-16 halftime lead.

Prophetstown (31-3) had no player with more than 6 points.
