Borcia helps Libertyville top Hersey

Joe Borcia's game-high 17 points led three Libertyville players in double figures, as the Wildcats captured a 72-52 win over visiting Hersey in nonconference action Saturday night.

Matt Reed and Johnny Vernasco added 14 and 13 points, respectively, for Libertyville (13-10), which won its third game in a row. Both Reed and Vernasco sank three 3-pointers.

The Wildcats led 20-13 after the first quarter, 38-27 at halftime and 51-36 after three.

Conor Peterson and Jack Lipp chipped in 8 points apiece for Libertyville.

Palatine 79, Vernon Hills 67: Robby Nardini scored 23 points in the visiting Cougars' nonconference loss.

Matt Weaver added 16 points and Bo Manso scored 11 for Vernon Hills (14-10).

Rolling Meadows 64, Grant 58: Matt Malmberg scored a game-high 20 points, sinking six 3-pointers, for the visiting Bulldogs in their nonconference loss.

Steve Dunning had 14 points and 8 rebounds for Grant (11-12), which dropped its third game in a row. The Bulldogs also received 12 points from Ryan Noda and 8 from Devan Bald.
