Borcia, Reed pace Libertyville victory

Joe Borcia scored 17 points and Matt Reed stayed hot with his fourth straight double-digit scoring effort, as Libertyville's boys basketball team defeated visiting Elk Grove 73-54 in nonconference action Tuesday night.

Reed finished with 16 points, including three 3-pointers, while Johnny Vernasco (12 points, two 3s) also scored in double figures for Libertyville (11-10).

Conor Peterson chipped in 9 points for the Wildcats, who were up 18-15 after one quarter, 35-26 at halftime and 56-42 after three.

Cary-Grove 75, Mundelein 64: Derek Parola scored a game-high 30 points, including five 3-pointers, for the host Mustangs in their nonconference loss.

J.T. Michalski added 15 points for Mundelein (2-24).

Zion-Benton 58, Grayslake Central 53: Milik Yarbrough scored 25 points for the host Zee-Bees in the nonconference game.

The loss for Grayslake Central (12-8) snapped the Rams' seven-game winning streak.
