Westminster Christian wins NAC Tournament

The Westminster Christian boys basketball team claimed the Northeastern Athletic Conference tournament championship Saturday, defeating Mooseheart 68-26 in the semifinals and then Luther North 46-33 in the title game of the tournament, which was played at Westminster.

Dillion Rejman scored 15 points, including 5 3-pointers. Sam Carani scored 12 points and Paul Ellerbush added 10 points. in the win over Mooseheart, which was the top seed in the tournament but also played in the Night of Hoops at Batavia with a split squad.

The Warriors (14-10) then got 17 points from Robert Kleczynski in the championship game, with Carani adding 14 and Ellerbush 9.

“Tremendous defensive effort in the championship game and a great job on the boards,” said Westminster Christian coach Bruce Firchau.

Harvest Christian goes 2-1: Harvest Christian (12-12) defeated Alden-Hebron 63-39, while competing in the Northeastern Athletic Conference tournament. Brett Cramer led the Lions with 17 points, 8 rebounds and 3 blocks. Noah Fox had 14 points and John Vislisel contributed 11 points. In its second game of the day, Harvest beat IMSA 38-35 with the help of Vislisel’s 18 points and 9 rebounds. Fox scored 9 points and Cramer added 8 points. Harvest Christian lost to Christian Liberty in the consolation championship 68-52. Vislisel scored 25 points, while Cramer and Fox added 6 points apiece.
