North Chicago turns back Grant

Grant’s boys basketball team flirted with an upset Wednesday night.

The Bulldogs were tied with host North Chicago 60-60 with less than four minutes left in the fourth quarter, but the Warhawks prevailed 85-79.

Kurt Hall scored a game-high 31 points for North Chicago, which improved to 16-3 and 8-0 in the North Suburban Conference Prairie Division. Arnold Shead (17 points), JaVairius Amos-Mays (14), Courtez Zinnerman-Dixon (11) and Jamero Shelton (10) also scored in double digits for the Warhawks.

Grant (10-9, 4-3) received 22 points from Ryan Noda, 17 from Steve Dunning, 11 from Mike Burns and 10 from Rayvon Jones.

The score was tied 19-19 after one quarter, and North Chicago took a 36-35 lead into halftime. The Warhawks were up only 58-54 after three.

Wauconda 62, Round Lake 56: Dion Head had 23 points, 9 rebounds, 4 steals and 3 assists for the visiting Bulldogs in the North Suburban Prairie contest.

Ricky Sidlowski added 19 points, 7 rebounds and 3 steals for Wauconda (12-7, 4-2), while Ben Carlson contributed 8 points, 11 rebounds, 4 blocks and 3 steals.

Karnell Wright poured in 28 points for Round Lake (3-15, 0-7). Jashani Lear and Mateusz Lopez chipped in 10 and 9 points, respectively, for the Panthers.

Lake Forest 65, Libertyville 47: Evan Boudreaux scored 27 points in the North Suburban Lake game, as the visiting Scouts swept the season series from the Wildcats.

Lake Forest (15-4, 5-3) opened up a 20-13 lead after one quarter, was up 29-20 at halftime and 45-35 after three. Cal Miller and Dane Roberts chipped in 8 points apiece for the visitors.

Libertyville (9-8, 2-6) was led by Joe Borcia’s 18 points. Steven Braun had 11, while the Scouts held Jack Lipp to 9.

Carmel 60, Marian Central 47: Jack George scored 17 points and Michael Barr added 16 for the host Corsairs in the nonconference game.

Billy Kirby contributed 9 points for Carmel (18-4).

Zion-Benton 68, Lake Zurich 45: The visiting Zee-Bees built a 20-14 lead after one quarter and were up 36-22 at halftime of the North Suburban Lake contest.

Lake Zurich fell to 13-10 and 2-5 in the division.

Grayslake North 43, Woodstock North 41: The visiting Knights won the Fox Valley Fox Division game in overtime.
