York wins tournament title

York improved to 18-2 and won Wheaton Warrenville South’s second annual MLK Tournament, 61-55 over Bartlett in the title game. The Dukes, who beat Metea Valley in the semifinals, were led by 24 points from Frank Toohey, who made 14 of 16 free throws. Charlie Rose added 10 points for York. Bartlett (13-8) got 22 points from Ryan DiCanio.

Metea Valley 66, Oswego 58:Winning the third-place game at WW South, Metea Valley (10-8) sent four players in double figures. The Mustangs were led by Mark Konkle with 14 points, Marquell Oliver with 13 and Justin Kuehn and Nick Dodson with 11 apiece. Dodson did not score in Metea#146;s semifinal loss against York. Zach West scored 18 to lead Oswego (7-9).WW South 54, Oak Lawn 39:Ending a five-game losing streak and taking seventh at its tournament, WW South (3-14) got 13 points by Matt Kienzle and 10 by Keishawn Watson. Earlier, the Tigers went down to the wire in a 49-46 loss to Clemente, headed by Kienzle#146;s five 3-pointers and 19 points, and 12 from Aidan Hernandez.
