Montini 77, St. Edward 43: Facing the top-ranked Class 3A team in the state, the Green Wave (11-7, 3-2) had trouble scoring early in both halves, dropping a Suburban Christian Conference Blue Division game on the road. Katie Swanson led the Wave with 12 points while Katie Castoro added 10.
Sycamore 47, Hampshire 29: Scoring a season-low 29 points, the Whip-Purs (7-10) have now dropped 6 of their last 7 after starting the season 5-2 thanks to this nonconference loss on the road. Tricia Dumoulin, who hit 3 3-pointers for 9 points on the night, led all Whip-Purs on the floor, while teammate Emma Benoit had just 4 points but was able to bring down 7 rebounds. As a team, Hampshire turned the ball over a total of 20 times.
Women’s basketball
ECC 75, Oakton Community College 29: The Spartans rolled over Oakton Community College, going up by 26 at the half, and never looking back in their win at the Events Center in Elgin. Jen Dumoulin scored a game-high 23 points, netting 17 of those in the second half to keep up the dominate offensive night for the Spartans. Alexa Diaz and Sarah Nelson both were able to get into double figures for ECC, scoring 16 and 10 points respectively.
