Batavia tops Streamwood behind Fruendt’s 31

Liza Fruendt scored 31 points Saturday in Batavia’s 53-32 win over Streamwood.

Batavia (12-5, 4-0 in the UEC River Division) held Streamwood to single digit scoring in three out of four quarters.

According to Batavia coach Kevin Jensen, great defense by Erin Bayram (5 points) and Hannah Frazier (8 points) held Streamwood’s talented Hannah McGlone to only 6 points.

Playing most of the fourth quarter, the lineup of Morgan Erickson, Katie Weber, Madeline Slater, Jess Koch, and Ana Marchiori held the Sabres to just 5 points.

Fruendt is now just 20 points away from Batavia’s all-time scoring record held by Katie Issel.

St. Charles East 51, Elgin 37: St. Charles East defeated Elgin 51-37 on Saturday to improve to 9-9 overall and 3-2 in the Upstate Eight Conference River Division.

Katie Claussner scored 9 points to lead the Saints. Kyra Washington added 8.

Aurora Central Catholic 59, Walther Christian 49: Led by juniors Alex Horton and Kalie Soris with 16 and 10 points, respectively, the Chargers picked up a win on the road at Walther Christian.

The Chargers are now 9-7 and 3-2 in the SCC Blue Division.

Broncos senior Dana Turner led all scorers with 31 points.
