Huntley, C-G claim Valley Division wins

Huntley took command in routing host McHenry 62-35 in a Fox Valley Conference Valley Division girls basketball matchup Wednesday.

Sam Andrews led all scorers with 21 points for the Red Raiders (14-3, 4-0), while Ali Andrews and Bethany Zornow contributed 17 and 13 points, respectively.

Cary-Grove 32, Jacobs 23: The Trojans (12-6, 3-2) scored just enough points to earn a Fox Valley Conference Valley Division victory over the Golden Eagles (3-14, 1-3) at home. Katie Barker paced the Trojans with 9 points while Tiffany Frighetto led the Golden Eagles with 8 points and 6 rebounds.

Prairie Ridge 65, Dundee-Crown 41: A slow start doomed the Chargers (5-14) as they dropped this Fox Valley Conference Valley division game to Prairie Ridge. Junior Lauren Lococo was the lone Charger to finish in double figures with 10 points. Kayla Lawrence and Jesania Laboy added 8 points apiece.

Hampshire 46, Woodstock 43: The Whip-Purs (7-8) carried a 24-9 lead into half time and was able to hang on as they defeated Woodstock on the road in this Fox Valley Conference Valley Division contest. Tricia Dumoulin led the Whips' with 15 points while Emma Benoit also added double-digits with 10 points.

Boys basketball

Morgan Park Academy 63, Elgin Academy 40: Dee Robinson paced the Hilltoppers (2-5) with 13 points, but it was not enough as they fell to Morgan Park Academy. Jumel Julien chipped in 8 points in the loss.
