Maine W. falls, BG wins in D-C finales

Rockton Hononegah 65, Maine West 49: Brittany Collins (14 points, 13 rebounds), Julia Huinker (12 points, 3 assists), Abbey Herling (8 points, 3 rebounds) and Monica Liwag (7 points, 4 assists) were top scorers for the Warriors (10-6) in their final game of the Dundee-Crown Charger Classic.

“We learned a lot,” said Warriors coach Derril Kipp, who has won five D-C crowns. “We moved the ball better and we got to play a lot of kids. Overall I was happy with how we played and we are looking forward to the second half of the season.”

Buffalo Grove 61, Dundee-Crown 42: Sophomore guard Maddie Welter made five 3-pointers and finished with a career-high 26 points to help Buffalo Grove complete its D-C ournament effort with a decisive victory.

The Bison (7-10) led 29-22 at the half but took control by outscoring the Chargers 20-5 in the third quarter.

Bri Kolbus contributed 13 points and Maddie Callahan had 11 for Buffalo Grove.

Senior Emily Michalski led Dundee-Crown (5-14) with 13 points.
