St. Edward will play for Lisle title

St. Edward 51, Antioch 50: Freshman Madelyn Spagnola, who has played sick all week, made 2 free throws with 12 seconds left in the game to lift the Green Wave into the championship game of the Lisle Holiday Cage Classic. St. Edward (10-4) will play Coal City at 8 p.m. Monday. Spagnola and Katie Swanson each had 16 points to lead St. Edward, and freshman Katelyn Castoro added 11.

“We dominated the whole first half and then we were able to withstand their fourth-quarter run,” said St. Edward coach Michelle Dawson, whose team led 31-16 at halftime.

South Elgin 56, Proviso West 32: Kennede Miller had 13 points to lead the Storm (9-6) at the Montini tournament. Mackie Kelleher added 9 points for South Elgin, which finished the tournament 2-2.

Latin 40, Hampshire 39: Emma Benoit had 20 points to lead Hampshire (6-6) at the Lisle tournament.

Glenbard North 54, Jacobs 38: Taila Surges had 9 points and Jenn Barnec added 8 for Jacobs (3-13) at the Wheaton North tournament.

Durand 58, Harvest Christian 41: Kylee Knox had 19 points, 10 rebounds and 4 assists for the Lions (6-3) at the Alden-Hebron tournament. Morgan Lockwood added 11 points.
