Grayslake Central’s Morgan Dahlstrom has earned Daily Herald MVP honors for her recent girls basketball performances.
Morgan Dahlstrom, Grayslake Central: The center muscled up against St. Charles North, producing 25 points, 17 rebounds and 3 blocked shots in a 65-49 win. Katie Barker, Cary-Grove: The Trojans’ 5-foot-10 junior sharpshooter continued to impress in the scoring column in leading her team to two quality wins. She scored 21 points in a 44-39 victory over Stevenson then came back with a 22-point effort in a 52-45 triumph over Buffalo Grove.
Brittany Collins, Maine West: Collins scored 15 points with 8 rebounds in a 43-39 win at Maine South to become Maine West’s all-time leading scorer with 1,653 points, breaking the mark of 1,648 set by Megan Edwards in 2005. The 6-foot senior forward then tossed home 20 points with 12 rebounds in her own gymnasium as the Warriors improved to 9-3 with a 45-43 win over Deerfield in the Central Suburban North game.
