Wheeling earns consolation title appearance

Wheeling 69, Clark Prep 46: Wheeling shot 19-for-33 from the field to shoot past Clark Prep 69-46 and into the consolation championship at 5:30 p.m. against Notre Dame.

Senior Jeremy Stephani had another strong performance, finished 5-for-10 from 3-point range and 4-for-4 at the foul line for a game-high 27 points. Stephani also had 5 rebounds and a game-best 5 assists.

Junior forward Jake Jordan was 7-for-10 shooting and finished with 14 points and a team-best 7 rebounds for the Wildcats.

Kris Claybon paced Clark with 16 points.

Wheeling held Clark to 7 points in both the first and third quarters.

Maine West 64, Hope Academy 59: Matt Acevedo finished with a game-high 18 points to help the Warriors pick up their first win at Wheeling.

Rag Patel had 14 points and Jamal Sherman contributed 11 for Maine West, which meets Alcott in its tourney finale at 10:30 a.m. Saturday.

Acevedo and Patel each made a pair of 3s for the Warriors, who shot 11-for-15 at the foul line.

Notre Dame 70, Lake Park 66: Joe Mooney finished with 20 points and Ammar Becar had 17 to help the Dons earn a spot in the consolation championship game.

Junior guard Marcus McDaniel scored a game-high 21 points for Lake Park.
