That's because Peoria Central hit a 3-point just 3 seconds later -- but the Huskies were able to absorb the last-gasp shot and win 58-57, sending them into an evening game against Lake Zurich.
Brandon Hatten paced Hersey with a game-high 19 points, the result of 8-for-11 shooting from the field and 3-for-4 at the foul line.
Mike Fuerst had 11 points and 8 rebounds, and Mueller finished with 8 points.
• The Huskies came up short against Lake Zurich 52-44 in their second game of the day.
Payton Haas scored a game-high 17 points on 7-for-14 shooting from the field, which included three 3-pointers, and Hatten had 10 points.
Mike Travlos paced Lake Zurich with 17 points.
Buffalo Grove made up for missing the opportunity to play Thursday, when St. Francis de Sales forfeited out of the tournament, by getting a bonus opponent on Friday.
The Bison made the most of their "extra" game, topping South Shore 65-46.
Kyle Calcagno finished with a game-high 16 points, including four 3's, to lead the Bison.
• In their regularly bracketed game against Englewood, the Bison dropped a 53-50 decision to Englewood.
Andrew Apel scored 18 points in the fourth quarter on his way to a game-high 31 points for Buffalo Grove.
Connor Reid had 10 points for BG, which trailed by 11 points entering the fourth quarter.
The Bison wrap up their tournament with a 12:15 p.m. game Saturday against Corliss.
Barrington 65, Marian Central 39: Austin Madrzyk fired in three 3's and finished with a game-high 19 points to help the Broncos to a decisive victory in the first game Friday in the Hinkle Holiday Classic.
Rapolas Ivanauskas had 16 points as Barrington made good on 20 of 29 foul shots.
