Lake Zurich gets a 'W' at Mundelein

Abby Pirron scored 16 points, Elly Daleske added 13, and Lake Zurich's girls basketball team defeated Hoffman Estates 43-32 Thursday morning in Mundelein's Holiday Classic.

Lake Zurich (4-8, 1-1 tournament) trailed 11-4 after the first quarter, but got within 16-12 by halftime and 26-24 after three. The Bears then outscored the Hawks 19-6 in the fourth.

Lake Zurich will play Streamwood at noon today.

Lake Forest 50, Grant 42: At Mundelein, Grace Torkelson led the Scouts with 18 points.

Kaylie Kanzler had 16 points for Grant (4-8, 0-2), which will play Lake Park at 10:30 a.m. today.

Antioch 59, Westmont 23: The Sequoits won their opening tournament game at Lisle, as Amy Reiser scored a season-high 17 points and nabbed an impressive 10 steals for her second double-double in as many games.

Paige Gallimore added 12 points, 7 rebounds, 4 assists and 3 steals. Antioch (11-3) continues to dominate the boards, as it has yet to get outrebounded in a game this season. The Sequoits racked up 26 steals, while turning the ball over only five times.

Alexis Duehr had 10 points for Antioch.
