Back-to-back wins for Round Lake

Round Lake’s girls basketball team has its first winning streak of the season.

Destiny Brown and Justice Clark scored 18 and 17 points, respectively, as the Panthers defeated Marengo 48-41 in their finale of the Northern Illinois Holiday Classic at McHenry on Saturday.

It was the second win in a row for Round Lake (3-13), which finished 2-3 in the tournament.

Grayslake Central 48, Palatine 40: At Warren, Carson Sparkman scored 14 points and dished out 3 assists, and Morgan Dahlstrom added 13 points, 13 rebounds and 3 blocks, as the Rams captured their opening game in the Blue Devil Classic.

Grayslake Central (9-3) led 13-12 after one quarter, 22-14 at halftime and 37-24 after three.

Maddy Miller chipped in 8 points, hitting two 3-pointers.

Samantha Heuertz’s 10 points led Palatine.

Wheeling 45, Carmel 42: At Warren, the Wildcats snapped the Corsairs’ three-game winning streak in opening-round action of the Blue Devil Classic, building a 38-30 lead after three quarters.

Leah Lach and Kathleen Felicelli each scored 10 points for Carmel (9-2).

Wheeling was led by Deanna Kuzmanic’s 17 points and Hannah Dobrowski’s 12.

Marian Central 57, Wauconda 43: At Richmond-Burton, the Hurricanes won the second-place pool in the Northern Illinois Holiday Classic, snapping the Bulldogs’ four-game winning streak.

Freshman Katie Rosssetti had a double-double of 11 points and 13 rebounds for Wauconda (6-5, 3-2 tournament).

Lauren Nee added 9 points and 5 steals for the Bulldogs.
