NSC Lake wins for Stevenson, Warren

Stevenson’s girls basketball team recovered from a 5-point deficit after one quarter to defeat Lake Zurich 39-31 in the Patriots’ home opener Friday night.

Sophomore guard Janine Fajardo scored a game-high 11 points to lead Stevenson, which improved to 6-2 overall and 3-0 in the North Suburban Lake Division with its fifth win in a row. Sophomore Jessica Burke added 9 points for the Patriots, who outscored the Bears 7-2 in the second quarter and 9-8 in the third to take a 21-20 lead into the fourth.

Lake Zurich’s Abby Pirron had 10 points.

Warren 46, Lake Forest 27: The host Blue Devils earned their first NSC Lake win, as they improved to 2-7 and 1-3 in the division.
