Fremd turns away Stephani, Wheeling

Wheeling senior Jeremy Stephani made five 3-pointers and finished with a game-high 27 points — and even that wasn’t enough to stop Fremd.

The Vikings remain perfect this season, improving to 6-0 with a 55-37 victory over the visiting Wildcats in a Mid-Suburban League boys basketball crossover on Saturday.

Fremd senior guard Riley Glassmann had a team-best 20 points — his third game of 20 or more points this season — and Matt Ochoa and Ben Carlson each had 10 points for the Vikings.

Nate Laude scored 6 points for Wheeling (4-2).

“I thought we did a good job rebounding in the second half,” said Fremd coach Bob Widlowski. “I thought Matt Ochoa and Ben Carlson play well in the second half — they did a good job inside the paint. And Riley was very steady throughout the game.”
