Barrington buckles down, bounces Schaumburg
Trailing 13-11 after one quarter, Barrington’s girls basketball team outscored visiting Schaumburg 13-2 in the second quarter and never looked back in a 41-25 victory in the Mid-Suburban West opener on Friday.
The Fillies, who ran their record to 7-0, were led by 6-foot junior Bailee McDonald’s 8 points and 10 rebounds.
Senior Brooke Gunderson added 8 points and sophomore Megan Talbot tied her season-high of 14 rebounds.
Senior Carrie Madden handed out 4 assists for the Fillies.
Gunderson, Auri Grayson and Angie Kirchoff (4 rebounds) each had a 3-pointer for the Fillies, who shot 13-of-70 from the floor.

Barreiro said Cassidy Goldsmith (4 rebounds), Madden and Grayson provided a lift off the bench.
“Defensively, I thought we played really well,” Barreiro added. “They (Schaumburg) have been scoring points. I thought we did a nice job on Jada (Blackwell), who I think is a very talented player. We were sharp defensively, especially rebounding where we dominated and that made a big difference.”
