Prospect stays perfect

Prospect’s girls basketball team improved to 6-0 with 48-19 nonconference victory over visiting Highland Park on Thursday night at the Jean Walker Field House in Mt. Prospect.

Junior Taylor Will (13 points), freshman Haley Will (11), junior Catherine Sherwood (10) and sophomore Nikki Matters (7) led a balanced attack for coach Ashley Graham, whose team led 15-2 after one quarter and gave up its fewest points of the season (previously 34 against Conant).

Each Will had a 3-point basket.

“Obviously, I was really happy with our first-quarter defense,” Graham said. “We talked at half that we could have even more communication on defense and we had a nice third quarter.

“It was a very nice team win. We are learning more about ourselves and things we need to get better at because we are going to see a very good opponent in Hersey on Tuesday. We are preparing for that game and looking forward to it.
