Girls basketball/Fox Valley roundup

Emma Benoit scored 16 points and Sara Finn added 10 Friday as the Hampshire girls basketball team rolled over Alden-Hebron 60-29 Friday in the semifinals of the Elgin Academy Thanksgiving Tournament.

The Whip-Purs outscored Hebron 34-13 in the first half and never looked back.

Becky Dumoulin added 9 points for Hampshire (2-1), which will play Willows Academy at 3:30 p.m. today for the championship.

Palatine 46, Dundee-Crown 32: Kayla Lawrence scored 12 points and Emily Michalski added 9 for the Chargers (0-3) in this loss at the D-C Thanksgiving Tournament.

Hononegah 67, Jacobs 35: Glenita Williams led Jacobs (1-2) with 7 points at the Dundee-Crown Thanksgiving Tournament.

North Chicago 57, Bartlett 44: Kaitlin Brohan had 12 points and Elizabeth Arco added 10 in Bartlett’s season-opening loss at the Naperville Central/Benet Tip-Off Tournament.

Hiawatha 49, Elgin Academy 31: Kaitlyn Pearson had 17 points and Susie Cain added 8 for Elgin Academy (0-2) at the EA Thanksgiving Tournament. The Hilltoppers will play Mooseheart today at 11 a.m.
