Scouting Dundee-Crown Chargers

Dundee-Crown Chargers

Last year: 4-24 (0-12 FVC Valley)

Coach: Sarah Miller (1st year)

Top returnees: Senior Emily Michalski (5-11 C); juniors Lauren Lococo (5-8 G), Jesania Laboy (5-10 C).

Top newcomers: Sophomores Melissa Barker (5-8 G), Kayla Lawrence (5-8 G); freshman Allison Michalski (5-11 C).

Outlook: Miller takes over a Dundee-Crown program that struggled for wins last season, and she has high hopes and expectations for the future. “It is our goal to be a strong team that will battle and compete with teams in the conference,” said the former Mundelein assistant. “The girls have been very committed and focused. This conference is tough and we will face a lot of talented intense competition. We’re trying to get the girls to realize it all starts in practice. We talk about 110 percent effort at all times and keeping the mental focus and consistency. We talk every day about the things we’re trying to accomplish. We’ve talked a lot but now is the time to show it.” Lococo (6.1 ppg) and Emily Michalski (5.7 ppg) bring the most experience back for the Chargers. “I’m a defensive-minded coach,” Miller said. “We want to keep teams to 10 points or less every quarter. I’m not worried about our offense. With our defensive goals we expect to win games and be competitive.”
