Last year: 3-25 (1-11 UEC River)
Coach: Ruben Flores (2nd year, 3-25)
Top returnees: Seniors Sky Evans (5-6 G), Rachel Martinez (5-8 F), Shawndre'a Hill (5-9 F); junior Quixmia Washington (5-5 G)
Top newcomers: Senior Victoria Patterson (5-6 G); freshman Marlee Kyles (5-6 G)
Outlook: The Royals are looking to improve on last year's 3-win season as Flores enters his second year in charge of the program. Washington averaged 13.4 points, 4 rebounds, 3.8 steals and 2.4 assists per game last season and was an all-area selection. "We hope to improve in the win column but the reality is we're still in a rebuilding process," Flores said. "The program is just under the second year of our offensive and defensive schemes. We look for more continuity and development to achieve our goals." Flores likes the fact he has experienced seniors in Evans, Martinez and Hill to compliment the talented Washington, as well as the return of Patterson, who didn't play last year. "Our strength this year will be our senior leadership as we have six seniors on the squad," he said. "Our strength this year should be in the backcourt. We have three guards that can push the ball up that are quick and athletic. We have two long-range shooting guards that we look to use to stretch defenses. Our weakness could be in post play, as we are undersized."
