LIBERTYVILLE

Coach: Greg Pedersen (second season)

Last season: 15-14, 7-5 in NSC Lake, lost to Palatine in Class 4A Wheeling regional final

Key losses: G Olivia Mayer (Augustana), F Dana Kym, F Haley Hoeksel

Returning players: Jr. G Mary Wilterdink, Sr. G Jessica Van Roeyen, Sr. G Andi Katz, Sr. G Sydney Mudd, Sr. G Rosie Lynch, Jr. G/F Jenna Slobodnik, Jr. C Becky Deichl, Sr. F Tara Eyre

Newcomers: So. G Maggie Piazzi, Sr. G/F Taylor Zoellick, Jr. G Addie Neal, So. G/F Erin Dunleavy, Fr. G/F Claire Keefe, Sr. G/F TJ Freberg

Outlook: With a new coach and only one returning starter, the Wildcats, who were coming off back-to-back NSC championships, started last season by losing their first five games. Once they settled in, they started playing good basketball. They closed the regular season with a six-game winning streak and finished with a winning record. All-area guard Olivia Mayer and fellow all-conference player Dana Kym graduated, but the Wildcats look to be competitive again this winter. A large roster features seven seniors, four juniors, two sophomores and a freshman. Senior Rosie Lynch and junior Mary Wilterdink have both played varsity the last two winters. Junior center Becky Deichl (6-1) is back to provide a low-post presence, while freshman guard/forward Claire Keefe stands 5-11. The two sophomores up are guards Maggie Piazzi (5-5) and Erin Dunleavy (5-8).
