Aurora Central tops Somonauk in opener

Aurora Central Catholic’s girls basketball team used a balanced scoring attack to win its season-opener over host Somonauk 53-41 Monday at the Tim Humes Breakout tournament in Somonauk.

Junior Natalie Droeske led the Chargers with 11 points followed by junior Alex Horton and sophomore Veronica LaVia with 9 each.

Six-foot-3 freshman Taylor Harazin opened her ACC career with 8 points, 10 rebounds and 2 blocks.

The Chargers take on Hinkley-Big Rock Tuesday night in Somonauk.
