Morgan Park, Cahokia to meet for 3A crown

The Class 3A boys basketball state championship game will feature Cahokia and Morgan Park after both won their state semifinal games Friday at Carver Arena in Peoria.

Morgan Park (32-3) got 15 points apiece from guards Kyle Davis and Billy Garrett in a 70-49 victory over Bartonville Limestone.

The Mustangs led 28-18 at the half before producing a 26-7 scoring edge in the third quarter to put the game out of reach. Bartonville Limestone was led in scoring by Hank Mathews with 9 points.

Cahokia (33-3) got 22 points from Keenan Minor and 15 from Derenzo Jennings in a 56-46 victory over Chicago Orr.

The Cahoks out-rebounded Orr 44-23. That edge was nearly offset by 12 steals by Orr, which was led in scoring by Brandon Clemons with 13 points and Louis Adams with 11.

Cahokia and Morgan Park are scheduled to tip-off in Saturday’s Class 3A championship game at 2 p.m. Saturday.

Orr (23-3) and Bartonville Limestone (24-10) will play for third place at 12:15 p.m.
