Cougars head to IHSA girls basketball final four

Vernon Hills High School’s varsity girl’s basketball team boarded a bus Thursday morning for their trip to the final four in Redbird Arena this weekend.

It marks the second year in a row the team will head to the campus of Illinois State University in Normal for a chance at a state title.

The team defeated Burlington Central on Feb. 25 to win the IHSA Super Sectional and advance to the IHSA finals.

The Cougars’ first game will be Friday at noon vs. Montini. Their second game will be at noon or 2 p.m. on Saturday — depending on the outcome of Friday’s game.
