Barrington tops Wheeling

Barrington earned a Wednesday date against Class 4A boys basketball regional host Warren with a 53-44 victory over Wheeling on Monday in Class 4A Waukegan sectional play.

Robby Vollman led the way with 17 points for Barrington (18-12), which trailed at the half 30-24 before holding Wheeling to 4 points in the third quarter.

The Broncos, who got 12 points from Zach Bart and 8 from Brad Zaumseil, outscored Wheeling 18-10 in the fourth quarter.

Jeremy Stephani led the Wildcats with 12 points.

Elk Grove 66, Wheaton North 64: No. 17 seed Elk Grove advanced to a 7:30 p.m. matchup Tuesday against top seed Proviso East at Proviso West.

Schamburg 64, Little Village 25: The Saxons had no trouble with their first-round opponent and advance to a regional semifinal Tuesday against No. 6 seed Morton at Glenbard North.

Maine West 66, Amundsen 40: The Warriors rolled in regional play at St. Patrick behind 14 points from Allante Bates, 13 from Joel Ferraren and 7 form Matt Acevedo. Maine West advances to meet No. 6 seed St. Patrick at 7:30 p.m. Tuesday.

Leyden 53, West Chicago 28: The No. 10-seeded Eagles won at York to earn a 7:30 p.m. Wednesday matchup against No. 7 seed Bartlett.

Highland Park 48, Rolling Meadows 35: Luke Norcia scored 13 points for the Giants, who will meet St. Viator in a 7:30 p.m. regional semifinal on Wednesday at Warren.

Palatine 71, Round Lake 48: Roosevelt Smart had 17 points and Chris Macahon had 10 as Palatine outscored the Panthers in each of the first three quarter in a regional quarterfinal play at Deerfield.

The No. 10 seed Pirates advance to face No. 7 Fremd in a 7:30 p.m. semifinal Tuesday.
