Grayslake Central nets regional title

Grayslake Central’s girls basketball team won its third Class 3A regional championship in as many years under coach Steve Ikenn on Friday night, as the fourth-seeded Rams pulled out a 41-38 win over No. 5 Antioch at Chicago Northside.

Grayslake Central also reached the 20-win mark, improving to 20-10 while earning a berth in the Vernon Hills sectional. The Rams will face top-seeded Vernon Hills (27-2) at 6 p.m. Tuesday in the first of two semifinals that night.

Antioch finished 17-12.
