Rampaging Reed powers Grayslake Central stunner

Danny Reed scored a career-high 31 points, sinking six 3-pointers, and host Grayslake Central’s boys basketball team stunned Fox Valley Conference Fox Division leader Crystal Lake Central 75-71 in overtime Tuesday night.

It was the biggest win of the season for the Rams, who improved to 4-18 and 2-8 in the FVC Fox. Grayslake Central lost at Crystal Lake Central 75-53 last month.

Alex Lennartz added 13 points for the winners, who trailed 52-51 after three quarters. In OT, Reed drained his sixth 3 and sank 2 of 2 free throws, as the Rams outscored the Tigers 11-7.

Grayslake North 55, Woodstock 49: A.J. Fish scored a career-high 31 points in the Fox Valley Fox game, as the visiting Knights snapped a three-game losing streak.

Nick Carmody added 9 points for Grayslake North (14-10, 4-6).

Vernon Hills 50, Antioch 37: Robby Nardini scored a season-high 17 points, including four 3-pointers, for the visiting Cougars in the North Suburban Prairie contest.

Stephen Curry and Michael Mariella (four 3s) added 13 and 12 points, respectively, for Vernon Hills (10-14, 6-5).

Tyler Innis scored 13 points for Antioch, and Ryan Weber added 10.
