Batavia blows out Oswego East on Senior Night

Batavia’s girls basketball team sent its seniors out with a 70-44 victory over Oswego East in their final home game on Senior Night Monday in Batavia.

Grace Andrews, Miranda Grizaffi, Sami Villarreal and Jenny Welday were honored before the game. The seniors started the game and wasted no time jumping to a lead.

After one quarter of play the Bulldogs led 18-4. Grizaffi and Liza Fruendt combined for four 3-point field goals in the quarter, while Erin Bayram had 6 of her 11 points in the first quarter.

The Bulldogs took a 38-15 halftime lead. Oswego East (11-14) didn’t get closer than 16 points in the second half.

Every Batavia player scored including four in double figures: Fruendt had 17 points, Grizaffi 16 points, and Hannah Frazier and Bayram each scored 11 points.

Welday added 5 points, Andrews 4 points, and Orman and Villarreal 3 points.

The Bulldogs (18-9) will travel to South Elgin on Thursday for their final regular season game in the Upstate Eight crossover fourth-place game.
