Meadows prepares for Quincy ND with 24th win
Rolling Meadows 65, Hersey 34: The state-ranked Mustangs wrapped up their second straight championship season in the Mid-Suburban East with a 65-34 victory over visiting Hersey.
Alexis Glasgow (18 points), Jackie Kemph (17 points), Jenny Vliet (9) and Ashley Montanez (8) led the Mustangs (24-1, 10-0), who travel to Quincy Notre Dame (ranked No. 3 in Class 3A and 18-0 to start this week) for a 7:30 p.m. nonconference game today.
Glasgow hit three 3-pointers for Meadows while Vliet, Elizabeth Vasilogambros and Chloe Prodonavic each had one.
Morgan Harris led Hersey (15-10, 6-4) with 11 points while teammate Casey Weyhrich added 10.
Harris and Meg Cerniglia each had one from long range for Hersey.
Hoffman Estates 53, Schaumburg 45: Sophomore guard-forwardMary Saitta (career-high 19 points, 3 3-pointers),Becca Stoczynski (14 points, 5 rebounds) and Destinee Young (12 points, 13 rebounds, 3 assist, s 2 steals) led Hoffman Estates (10-13, 4-6) to the MSL West triumph. Teammate Shante Hill had 6 rebounds.
Saitta made 6-of-6 free throws in the fourth quarter to help the Hawks seal the win.
Schaumburg (14-12, 5-5) was led by a career-high 20 points by Riley Williams.
Amanda Kelly, who scored the 1,000th point of her career in the second quarter, added 9 points with 5 rebounds while Jada Blackwell had 8 points and 4 rebounds. Carly Brossard grabbed 6 rebounds.
Prospect 52, Wheeling 41: Taylor Will (17 points), Michele Molini (15), Trisha Benson (8) and Catherine Sherwood (8) led visiting Prospect (13-12, 3-7) in the MSL East.
Molini had 3 3-pointers and Will 2.
Sophomore Deanna Kuzmanic was top scorer for the Wildcats (7-19, 1-9) with 18 points.
Maine West 49, Niles North 36: Brittany Collins (23 points, 10 rebounds) and Julia Huinker (14 points, 6 rebounds) led Maine West (11-15, 6-3) in the Central Suburban North.
Fenwick 59, Saint Viator 42: Junior guard Erin Fabbri led the Lions with 12 points, including a pair of 3-pointers, in the East Suburban Catholic Conference contest.
Hinsdale South 47, Leyden 42: Justyna Chojnowkski (12 points), Alondra Chavarria and Vik Galizia (9) led Leyden.
