Kym takes control for Libertyville

Libertyville senior forward Dana Kym was around the rim Thursday night.

Kym dominated the boards, grabbing 19 rebounds and scoring 11 points, as the Wildcats defeated visiting Lake Zurich 50-25 in North Suburban Lake Division action.

“Dana played a whale of a game,” Libertyville coach Greg Pedersen said. “Her physical presence has helped our team find its identity.”

Olivia Mayer scored a game-high 12 points and dished out 4 assists for the Wildcats (9-11, 4-4), who led 15-6 after one quarter, 28-11 at halftime and 37-18 after three. Rosie Lynch sank a pair of 3-pointers.

Lake Zurich (1-7 NSC Lake) was led by freshman guard Abby Pirron with 8 points.

Vernon Hills 58, North Chicago 44: Lauren Webb had 16 points, 8 rebounds and 3 assists, and the visiting Cougars won to stay undefeated in the North Suburban Prairie Division.

Webb scored 11 points, including a pair of 3-pointers, in helping Vernon Hills (19-2, 8-0) bolt to a 30-5 lead after one quarter. Sydney Smith and Haley Lieberman also hit 3s in the quarter.

Meri Bennett-Swanson added 14 points and 7 blocks for the Cougars, and Smith finished with 13 points and 5 rebounds. Lieberman tallied 8 points.

Monique Greathouse and Dara Tanner had 11 points each for North Chicago.

Grant 48, Round Lake 34: Senior guard Sadie Contreras scored 10 points, as the host Bulldogs won the North Suburban Prairie contest for their third victory in a row.

Grant (9-12, 4-4) received 7 points apiece from Kaylie Kanzler and Emily Kerr.

Round Lake (2-19, 0-9) got a game-high 17 points from Morgin Evins, who sank four 3-pointers.
