Metea Valley claims Oswego East crown

Lori Obendorf scored a career-high 28 points, pulled down 11 rebounds and played all 32 minutes to power No. 17 Metea Valley past Oswego East 59-53 in the championship game of the Oswego East Holiday Classic.

Nia Flowers scored all 10 of her points in the first half, staking the Mustangs (14-3) to a 32-23 halftime lead. Jenny Voytell scored 10 of her 12 after halftime and Anna Petersen had a game-high 13 rebounds before an injury forced her out in the third quarter for Metea, which won its 10th straight. LeRoyia Campbell paced Oswego East (8-7) with 24 points.

St. Francis 46, Riverside-Brookfield 38:Tournament MVP Kate Slattery scored 17 points for St. Francis in the championship game of the Riverside-Brookfield Tournament. Aly Germanos also was named all-tournament for the Spartans (7-8), who are 7-2 since an 0-6 start. Brittany JnoBaptiste scored 17 for R-B (15-3).Newark 40, Lisle 39:The host Lions outscored Newark 13-7 in the fourth quarter, but the late rally fell short in the championship game of the Lisle Cage Classic. Kristina Fernette scored 8 of her 17 points in the fourth quarter and Kelly Urban had 16 for Lisle (15-3), which had its 13-game win streak snapped. Tournament MVP Taylor Krug tallied 16 points for Newark.Glenbard South 63, Lyons Twp. 57:Sydney Bauman had 16 points, 10 rebounds and 5 blocks, and the Raiders outlasted Lyons in double overtime in the third-place game at the Bill Neibch Falcon Holiday Classic. Stefi Bazigos added 14 points and Ivana Markovic 10 for Glenbard South (14-4). Victoria Swift scored 17 for Lyons, which ended regulation with an 11-2 run to force overtime.
