Gallimore’s big effort paces Antioch

Paige Gallimore scored a career-high 31 points and added 11 rebounds for her third double-double of the season, as Antioch’s girls basketball team improve to 2-0 at Lisle with a 51-42 win over Chicago Latin on Thursday night.

Gallimore also had 5 steals. Alex Fracek hauled in 9 rebounds for Antioch (12-4), while freshman Alexis Duehr came off the bench and provided the Sequoits with a defensive spark, coach Tim Borries said, that gave them a lead in the third quarter after an 18-6 run.

Latin suffered its first loss of the season.

Antioch will play at 8 p.m. Friday against either Lisle or Wheaton Academy.

Carmel 56, Deerfield 24: At Warren, the Corsairs won their pool in the blue Devil Classic with a 3-0 record, as Claire Ogrinc scored 12 points.

Kathleen Felicelli added 8 for Carmel (10-4), which jumped out to a 22-7 lead after one quarter and was up 38-15 at halftime.

Carmel plays Lake Forest at 7:30 p.m. today.

Wheeling 42, Grayslake Central 35: At Warren, the Rams suffered a tough loss, as they led after each of the first three quarters.

Grayslake Central (8-6, 2-1) was up 13-9 after the first quarter, 23-16 at halftime and 32-27 after three. The Wildcats outscored the Rams 15-3 in the final eight minutes.

Grayslake Central was led in scoring by Morgan Dahlstrom with 13 points.

Mundelein 65, Lake Park 40: At Mundelein, the host Mustangs jumped out to a 12-0 lead and never trailed en route to evening their record in the tournament to 1-1.

Lake Park got within 27-24 early in the second half, but Mundelein (3-11) closed the third quarter with a 19-6 run.

Mustangs sophomore Maggie Mahar scored a game-high 15 points, as she hit three 3-pointers for the second day in a row. Mundelein also got double-digit points from Lauren Rouse (11) and Natalie Busscher (10), while Becca Woit scored 8.

Tyshai Freeman scored all of her team-high 12 points in the second half for Lake Park.

Grant 49, Hoffman Estates 43: At Mundelein, Sadie Contreras 13 points led three players in double figures, as the Bulldogs snapped a five-game losing streak.

Kaylie Kanzler added 12 and Tania Trbojevich had 10 for Grant (6-9, 1-1).

Trinity 60, Stevenson 38: At Loyola, the Patriots fell behind 20-10 after one quarter and trailed 36-22 at halftime.

Taylor Buford had 11 points to lead Stevenson (9-6, 1-1) in the Suburban Holiday Showcase game. Alex Elzinga and Paige Freudennberg added 8 points apiece for Stevenson, which takes on host Loyola at 7 p.m. today.
