Cuny scores 23 in Naperville Central victory

Jamie Cuny poured in 23 points, hitting four 3-pointers, and No. 4 Naperville Central beat New Trier 56-41 on Thursday to advance to the semifinals of the Dundee-Crown Charger Classic for the first time since 2003.

Cierra Stanciel added 12 points and Victoria Trowbridge 8 points and 6 rebounds for the Redhawks (15-1), who will play Evanston at 6:30 p.m. Friday. It is the first time Naperville Central has reached the semifinals at Dundee-Crown without Candace Parker. Evanston (15-0), which beat Barrington 50-46 on Thursday, is expected to be without leading scorer and rebounder Alecia Cooley for the rest of the tournament due to a sprained ankle suffered in Wednesday's first-round game.

Waubonsie Valley 48, Glenbard North 42:

Ryaen Johnson had 16 points and 12 rebounds, and the Warriors (2-12) won in overtime in consolation bracket play at the Bill Neibch Falcon Holiday Classic.

Downers Grove North 71, Elgin 47:

Jaida Green had 19 points and 6 rebounds for the Trojans (6-9) in consolation bracket action at the Bill Neibch Falcon Holiday Classic.

Lyons Twp. 52, Hinsdale Central 47:

Maddie Roglich scored 15 points, but the Red Devils couldn't recover from a 27-14 halftime deficit at the Bill Neibch Falcon Holiday Classic. Gabrielle Rush added 12 points and Lilly Sarros 10 for Hinsdale Central (10-3), who had beaten Lyons in two previous meetings in conference play. Victoria Swift scored 16 for Lyons, who advanced to play No. 1 seed Glenbrook South.

Fenton 39, Glenbrook North 32:

Tina Guarino scored 10 points for the Bison (10-4) at the St. Viator Tournament.

Joliet Central 53, West Chicago 39:

Laura Panicali scored 15 points and Brianna Hofman 10 for the Wildcats (1-11) at the Oswego East Holiday Tournament.

Downers Grove South 37, Aurora Central Catholic 33:

Kirsten Zemke powered in 9 points to pace the Mustangs (8-4) at the Oswego East Holiday Tournament.

Mundelein 65, Lake Park 40:

Tyshai Freeman scored 12 points and Emily Duckhorn 9 for the Lancers (0-15) at the Mundelein Holiday Tournament.
