Downey, Lake Forest stops Cats

Yale-bound center Sam Downey scored 15 points, and guard Ben Simpson added 12, as Lake Forest’s boys basketball team defeated host Libertyville 61-45 in North Suburban Lake Division action Friday night.

Lake Forest (7-2, 3-2) played without sophomore forward Evan Boudreaux, who injured his ankle against Stevenson on Tuesday.

George Quall chipped in 10 points for the Scouts, who trailed 16-13 after one quarter.

Libertyville (1-9, 0-5) received 10 points from Jack Deichl and 9 apiece from Drew Cayce and Joe Borcia.
