Blackwell, Schaumburg handle Harlan

Sophomore Jada Blackwell’s season-high 23 points led four players in double figures for Schaumburg’s girls basketball team in a 82-63 homecourt win over Chicago Harlan on Wednesday night.

Blackwell also pulled down 11 rebounds with 2 assists as the Saxons improved to 5-7 heading into Friday’s Mid-Suburban West game at Conant (3-8).

Also reaching double figures were Amanda Kelly (19 points, 10 assists), Carly Brossard (16 points, 5 rebounds) and Jasmine Bethea (10 points, 5 rebounds).

Fenwick 67, Elk Grove 53: Elk Grove led state power Fenwick 37-34 before the Friars captured a 67-53 victory in Oak Park.

Grens senior Diamond Boyd scored 20 of her game-high 26 points in the first half.

Jacksonville State-bound Kelly Naughton added 12 points for the Grens (7-5), who will host Wheeling on Friday night in the Mid-Suburban East.
