Montini narrowly escapes

Kateri Stone scored 9 points, and No. 1 Montini survived its second close call in Lombard in four days, defeating Walther Lutheran 41-37 Tuesday night.

Walther Lutheran (6-3, 2-1) missed 18 free throws against Montini (10-0, 4-0 Suburban Christian Conference Blue).

Naperville Central 75, Larkin 23:

Ashley Brown and Emily Kraft each scored 13 points for the No. 5 Redhawks (10-1) in pool play at the Oswego Holiday Tournament.

Hinsdale Central 76, Oak Park 68:

Gabrielle Rush poured in 30 points, 2 shy of her personal high, and Lilly Sarros scored 24 to pace No. 19 Hinsdale Central (7-2, 4-0 West Suburban Silver) past host Oak Park 76-68 on Tuesday. Caroline Kelty scored 35 for Oak Park.

York 38, Lyons Twp. 24:

AnnaBell Lansdowne scored 19 points and Paige Wrasse added 6 points and 5 rebounds for the Dukes (5-6, 2-3 West Suburban Silver). Sarah Milkowski added 10 rebounds.

Timothy Christian 37, Illiana Christian 23:

Kelli LeGrand and Steph Kuiper each tallied 9 points for the Trojans (4-5, 3-2 Metro Suburban Conference).

Hinsdale South 38, Downers Grove South 30:

Mary Claire Ladd scored 12 points to pace the Hornets (4-3, 3-0 West Suburban Gold), who won their third straight.

South Elgin 66, West Chicago 45:

Laura Panicali poured in 27 points for the Wildcats (1-8), who were unable to recover after falling behind 19-6 after a quarter at South Elgin.
