Spalding pitches in as Grayslake Central prevails

Lauren Spalding led three Grayslake Central players in double figures with 12 points, and the Rams wiped out a 2-point deficit after three quarters to earn a quality, 45-44 win over visiting Cary-Grove in a Fox Valley Conference crossover Friday night.

Maddy Miller and Morgan Dahlstrom added 11 points apiece for Grayslake Central (4-3), while Savannah Muff chipped in 9. Rams sophomore point guard Carson Sparkman returned to the starting lineup after missing two games with an injury.

Cary-Grove (4-3) received a game-high 22 points from Joslyn Nicholson.

Stevenson 44, Hersey 42: At Maine West, Kari Moffat’s 3-point play with 24 seconds left extended the Patriots’ lead to four, and they hung on for their first win of the season.

Moffat led all scorers with a season-high 19 points, including three 3-pointers.

Stevenson (1-4) concludes the tournament today with a 2:30 p.m. tipoff against host Maine West.

Grayslake North 65, Jacobs 46: Junior forward Brittney Thibeaux scored a career-high 24 points, as the host Knights stayed undefeated with the Fox Valley Conference crossover win.

Grayslake North (7-0) also received 11 points from Joanna Guhl, while Jordyn Bowen and Kendall Deitweiler added 9 apiece.
