Borries buries 3-pointers as Antioch rolls

Megan Borries was in the proverbial zone Friday.

The Antioch senior scored a career-high 29 points, thanks in large part to sinking a career-best seven 3-pointers, as the Sequoits defeated Taft 64-48 in the Niles North tournament.

Paige Gallimore added 13 points for Antioch (4-1), which led 21-19 after one quarter and then outscored its opponent 17-6 in the second to take a 38-25 lead into halftime.

Alex Fracek added 8 points and 10 rebounds for the Sequoits, who hit a season-high 10 3-pointers. Abbi McIlhany chipped in 7 points and 5 steals.

Grayslake Central 50, Westinghouse 44: At Buffalo Grove, Lauren Spalding sank three 3-pointers and scored 16 points, and the Rams outscored their opponent 14-8 in overtime.

Carson Sparkman added 11 points for Grayslake Central (3-1).

Maine South 54, Libertyville 42: At Buffalo Grove, Dan Kym had 11 points for the Wildcats (0-5).

Marian Catholic 70, Stevenson 33: At Maine West, the Patriots fell behind 17-9 after one quarter and trailed 42-14 at halftime.

Kari Moffat scored 12 points for Stevenson (0-3).
