WAUKEGAN — Former University of Illinois basketball player and Illinois Mr. Basketball Jereme Richmond is free on bond but subject to a 24-hour curfew for allegedly violating probation.

The News Sun in Waukegan reports that Lake County Judge John Phillips set Richmond’s bond Monday at $50,000. The judge told the 20-year-old he should go only to court-ordered substance-abuse and domestic-violence treatment.

Richmond was sentenced in January to 18 months of probation after pleading guilty to unlawful use of a weapon. Police said he threatened to shoot a girlfriend during a 2011 incident.

Richmond was arrested earlier in October for allegedly testing positive for marijuana and failing to comply with a curfew.

After starring at Waukegan High School, Richmond spent one season at Illinois. He left for the NBA draft but wasn’t drafted.
