Bartlett High School rallies for girls hoops team

Bartlett High School students and faculty held a pep rally Thursday morning to send their girls basketball team off to Normal this weekend, where they'll compete for the Class 4A state championship.

The Hawks, who head to the state finals with a 31-1 record, will take on Chicago Whitney Young at 6:30 p.m. Friday in the state semifinals. A win puts them in the championship game at 8:15 p.m. Saturday. A loss lands them in the third-place game at 6:30 p.m. Saturday.

The Hawks earned their place in the finals by knocking off DeKalb High School 48-30 on Monday night in the Elgin supersectional..

Other schools heading downstate in 4A are Edwardsville High School and Loyola Academy of Wilmette. the Final Four in Class 3A includes Vernon Hills, Montini, Hillcrest and Springfield high schools.
