Antioch snaps skid, tops Marengo

William Waschow scored a game-high 19 points, including two 3-pointers, and Antioch’s boys basketball team snapped a five-game losing streak by edging Marengo 46-43 in opening-round action of Marengo’s holiday tournament Thursday night.

Antioch (2-8) also got 9 points from Karl Nettgen.

The Sequoits play Woodstock at 4:30 p.m. today.

Rockford Luthern 75, Wauconda 61: At Marengo, the Bulldogs dropped their tournament opener, despite 16 points and 6 rebounds from Matt Mead and 15 points from Kyle Ryan.

Austin Swenson had 10 points for Wauconda (4-6), which plays Harvard at 6 p.m. today. Keith Blomberg dished out 5 assists and scored 4 points.

Mundelein 75, Rockford Jefferson 52: At Jacobs, Sean O’Brien scored 20 points, as the Mustangs snapped a two-game losing streak.

Robert Knar added 15 points for Mundelein (9-3, 2-2). Knar and Nate Brune (9 points) each hit three 3-pointers.
