Full steam ahead for Grayslake Central

Grayslake Central’s girls basketball team showed no letup following its win over perennial power Stevenson on Saturday.

The Rams ran their winning streak to 15 games with a 57-47 victory over visiting Woodstock North in a Fox Valley Fox Division game Monday night.

Grayslake Central improved to 17-2 overall and 6-0 in the FVC Fox.

Alex Scarbro and Rebekah Llorens led the way for Grayslake Central with 18 and 16 points, respectively. Scarbro went 9-of-12 from the free throw line.

Down by 1 point at halftime (27-26), the Rams outscored Woodstock North 13-6 in the third quarter to take control.

Grayslake Central, which also got 8 points out of Kat Dickson, hasn’t lost a game since Nov. 23 (49-32 to Libertyville).

Hersey 57, Latin 39: Hersey’s girls basketball had a new challenge Monday night in the Season’s End tourney contest at its own Carter Gymnasium.

For only the second time in four years, the Huskies were without all-stater Megan Rogowski.

The DePaul-bound guard suffered a broken pinkie on her left hand in the third quarter of Saturday’s 67-60 win over Prospect.

But the rest of the Huskies (15-3) showed their toughness and still rolled past Class 2A Latin High School (Chicago) for a 57-39 triumph in the nonconference contest.
